2. Listen Children
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 08:54 PM by Synnical
I sang this song in my junior high school choir. Though, we sang it as
"and the Valley FAR below"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Listen, children, to a story
That was written long ago,
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley-folk below.
On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath the stone,
And the valley-people swore
They'd have it for their very own.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.
So the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill,
Asking for the buried treasure,
Tons of gold for which they'd kill.
Came an answer from the kingdom,
"With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of our mountain,
All the riches buried there."
Now the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses! Draw your sword!"
And they killed the mountain-people,
So they won their just reward.
Now they stood beside the treasure,
On the mountain, dark and red.
Turned the stone and looked beneath it...
"Peace on Earth" was all it said.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.
Edit to delete multiple chorus refrains
7. Is that from the movie
Or a cover?
I'm wondering also if the move is available on DVD yet.
And we still haven't learned, have we? I'm finally shedding the tears I have been close to all week.
5. I know
I cried today, too. Not about the song lyrics, but about Cindy Sheehan and her fight. Our fight.
8. That movie is so cool that you can actually see the boom mike
for extended periods of time... in more than one scene... and it still sucks you in.
9. I just added it to my NetFlix que
LOL!
I think that move truly changed my life, made me a liberal . . . and that song!
I'm the product of two Republican parents. My parents are the product of two Democratic parents.
See my history?
Stubborn, we all are.
10. I saw that movie..
... back when it came out. Sure, I knew it was cheesy, manipulative, even maudlin at times.
But anyone with a well-developed sense of justice cannot help but love that film.
11. You know what I think I'm gonna do then? Just for the hell of it?
Mr. Posner: Tell me.
Billy Jack: I'm gonna take this right foot, and I'm gonna whop you on that side of your face...
Billy Jack: ...and you wanna know something? There's not a damn thing you're gonna be able to do about it.
Mr. Posner: Really?
Billy Jack: Really.
