How could the Fast Times soundtrack leave off "Moving in Stereo" |
|
I don't get it! I mean, think about the scene where Rat and Damone go over to Stacy's house to swim. When they show up, you can faintly hear Don Felder's "Never Surrender" on the boom box, but it's just background.
Now cut to the scene where Phoebe Cates (Linda) is getting out of the pool and takes her top off. The Cars "Moving in Stereo" is blaring. It's at the forefront of the scene.
So, how does "Never Surrender" end up on the soundtrack and "Moving in Stereo" get left off. It's a goddamn crime, that's what it is!!!

6. Yeah tell me about it! |
|
It just doesn't make any sense. Unless there was some kind of copyright or contractual thing that we don't know about. Other than that, talk about a bonehead move.

5. In most cases, soundtrack albums exist to sell music.. |
|
...as most of the songs were made (or at least pulled from the vaults) just for the soundtrack and not available elsewhere. "Moving In Stereo" was an exception as it had already been available 4 years before the movie was released.
Did anybody ever make the mistake of renting the video of Fast Times in the early 90's?? They had a version of that movie circulating at the time that had all the music cut out and replaced by cheesy imitations. The "carrot scene" was completely cut, as were other sexual related scenes, and when Spicoli & Jefferson's brother wreck the Camaro, I don't remember exactly WHAT little brother says, but it was NOT "First he's gonna shit, THEN he's gonna kill us". And Spicoli calls Mr Hand a "nerd" instead of "You DICK!!"
It was like a horrible made for TV edit, except it was at the video store. :scared: I made sure I kept the reciept when I bought the DVD, just in case they tried to pull that shit again.

That's just wrong. It's almost more wrong than many of the other ills in this world! ;) TV edits are shitty enough without making the renter have to endure that crap.
