6. I'm sure he would have if he could have.
He did hang out with Dennis Wilson from the Beach Boys, as well as Terry Melcher, the music producer who was Doris Day's son.

And he did some recordings of his own songs, with the girls and everything ("Garbage Dump" is still my favorite).

In fact the Beach Boys reworked a couple of his songs (they turned "Little Girl, Cease to Exist" into "Cease to Resist," a b-side, and inserted an altered "I'll Never Say Never to Always" as the coda of one of their other compositions).
