Is it rude to refer to Bush and Rove as Little Boy and Fat Man?
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 11:21 AM by Bunny
With the recent anniversary of the atomic bombings, those names have been in the news lately. They remind me of Georgie and Karl, although I don't like to make fun of anyone's weight.

On edit: I had to change the names. It was NOT Little Man and Fat Boy, as I originally wrote!

5. Rove isn't really fat - he just looks squishy from what is clearly a
sedintary lifestyle.

11. Yeah, he really isn't that heavy.
His face looks fat, I guess.

BTW - I am not a tiny person myself, so I feel awkward making fun of someone about their weight. I'm usually pretty sensitive to this kind of thing, but the idea popped into my head and I was amused by it!

13. IF ANYONE WONDERS, HERE IS THE REASON BUNNY ASKS THE QUESTION
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 11:39 AM by Richardo
"Little Boy" and "Fat Man" were the names of the two Atomic Bombs the US dropped on Japan in 1945. This was because they were engineered differently and had very dissimilar appearances. See?

So her question about rudeness has to do with possibly offending atomic bomb victims, NOT fat-bashing.

That is all.

19. Well, I got the Hiroshima/Nagasaki reference...

...but her question didn't make clear what it was she was asking...

If the question is: Is calling Bush and Rove "Little Boy and Fat Man" insensitive to the victims of the bombs we dropped on those cities? The answer is Yes, it's Grossly insensitive.

If the question is, as it was put, is it rude? Yes, it is.

I only brought up the fat-bashing to head off other possible responses. :) In no way did I think the OP was fat-bashing.

21. Thanks, I should have been more clear.
I would never dream of saying anything offensive re: the victims of the bombs. My Little Boy and Fat Man thing was a lame attempt at poking fun at Junior's childishness, and Rove's girth.

Or would that degrade a worthwhile cartoon? :)
