I hope my DVD arrives soon!
I FINALLY found one of my favorite movies on DVD, "The Uncanny" with Peter Cushing. It's a horror tale; three tales, actually; with cats as the protagonists. They used to show it all the time on cable in the late 1970s/early 1980s; my dad would say, "Are we watching that damn cat movie again?"

1. Ha, I remember that!

I taped it off TV way, way back. I mainly remember the "special effects" of dozens of cats leaping through the air and scratching people to death.

Where did you get the DVD? As far as I know, it's only in print on DVD in Australia and the U.K. (in PAL format that's incompatible with most U.S. equipment).

3. Uh oh ... the dreaded "eBay version"
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 01:57 PM by Tummler
I just searched a couple of international DVD sources to confirm that the only "Uncanny" DVDs ever legitimately published were in the U.K. and Australia.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the eBay DVD is almost certainly one of two things:

(1) A bootleg copy of the U.K. or Australian DVD, converted to a format playable in the USA/Canada; or

(2) A bootleg generated from an old videotape and slapped onto DVD. If this is the case, expect the quality to be no better than an old videotape.

The eBay seller doesn't say it's an "original, factory-pressed DVD," so it's probably something he/she burned onto a DVD-R on his/her computer. The cheap-looking cover, which is not based on the U.K. or Australian DVD cover and lacks the usual indicia of legitimacy, is further evidence of this.

Still, it IS "The Uncanny," and I hope you will be happy with the DVD despite its dubious origins.
