I bought some fresh parsley today and I just did a Google to find out the best way to clean and store it. I came across a document from the Tri-State Fruit and Vegetable Safety Consortium. It's very informative, but one paragraph in the "washing & serving" section caught my attention:


"When you are ready to use the parsley, first wash your hands with hot, soapy water for 20 seconds. Wash your hands before and after handling food, and after touching raw meat, changing a diaper, using the restroom, handling a pet or touching anything that could contaminate your hands."

Ok gang ... new rule:

Anyone who NEEDS TO BE TOLD to wash their hands AFTER TOUCHING A DIRTY DIAPER and BEFORE TOUCHING FOOD should not EVER be allowed to cook anything for anyone! :eyes:

Yes, people should wash their hands under all those circumstances, but the dirty diaper thing really got me. :puke:

2. Here's one for you.....

Earlier today at my work(TV Newsroom, assignment desk) the phone rings, as it does a million times a day.
I answered and the caller asked for one of the writers, so I transfer the call.
Knowing the writer is new to the city from a town in Florida I asked who it was because he never gets calls here. He said it was some friends from his former station.
Another "writer/producer" pipes up and asks, "Do they know you are here?" :crazy: Swear to the gawds!!!

Some people simply didn't learn the basics of good hygiene at home, or why handwashing is important. On a website discussing the safe handling of food, I don't think it's a bad thing to stress handwashing.
