What was the *second* best Star Trek film? |
|
Granted, eighty percent of us agree that "Wrath of Khan" rules the roost, but which of the other nine installments takes second prize?
I'm going with "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country."
--Compelling story (right wing militarists try to hijack peace talks)
--Character nuance (Kirk actually exudes racism; Spock has a very nice speech about logic not being the wellspring for wisdom)
--Fantastic villain (a Shakespeare quipping Christopher Plummer)

Well, except for that godawful one liner on the deflector dish- actually that whole scene's pretty bad.
Overall though it's pretty freakin' good. Woodard and Cromwell are fantastic, and Alice Kriege as the Borg Queen makes a fine villain. The scene where Picard explains to Alfre Woodard's charachter that she's on a starship and she goes from hostility to fear is so well acted, as is the Borg Queen's temptation of Data.

yea, if galaxy quest were to be ranked with the ST movies, it would certainly be high on the list (3 or 4, imo)
still, i think the second best ST film was the original movie...or maybe part 3...i dunno; flip a coin
