George HW Bush (Sr.) enters presidential race as democrat

George HW Bush, father of president George W. Bush, and 41st president of the United States, has announced his bid as a democrat in the upcoming 2004 presidential elections.

"My son's done an exquisite job messing things up," Bush said apologetically, "and I intended to go back there and clean house."

"Make no mistake," fired back his son, George W., "my father entering the presidential race is a sign that he intends to enter the presidential race."

The other democratic candidates had a lukewarm reception for Bush's entrance.

"This is so unfair," complained presidential hopeful Wesley Clark, "I've been a democrat two entire months longer than Bush! What does he know about being a democrat that I don't?"

"Bush is just another Bush-lite," muttered Howard Dean angrily.

"I don't think George HW Bush is a bigot," said Al Sharpton in a statement, "But I do think he does not belong in this election."

"George HW Bush has a huge consistency problem. Back in 1982, his favorite menu item at McDonald's was a quarter pounder with cheese. Now it's a big Mac!" Senator John Kerry excitedly explained, "This clearly shows why George HW Bush can't be a good president."

"Read my lips," assured Bush, "I will enter this race as a democrat and win!"
