1. well, since the cubs have lost 7 straight
that ain't the feat it used to be. The Cubs' woes make for great sports talk radio.

4. Nomar destroys any team he is with - and now the Cubs send a pitcher
to the Red Sox.

Crazy.

If the Cubs can unload Nomar they have a shot at next year -

this year is history.

5. Don't you guys have Maddox
It's sort of ironic that someone that is infamous for choking in the post season would end up pitching for the Cubs.

11. When the Cubs get to "post-season" play, I'll worry about Maddox!
Now I am focused on being piss-d at whoever said trade for Nomar.

I was there in 1990 when they won the division - long time Reds fan!

8. That was the year we were #1 through the season
Then we went on to beat those steroid using cheaters Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGwire.

9. A co-worker put a $100 bet on the Reds to sweep...
..because there I was defending the Reds and saying they they could stand up to those monstors on Oakland.

He made a shitload of money off of that bet - no one ever thought they would sweep that series. And he gave me $200 of his winnings since I was his inspiration to make the bet

10. There was some idiot bookie that did this online once
He put the 2003 Fiesta Bowl point spread at 18 with Miami to win. I heard he went broke because of it.

19. The Reds are among the worst teams this year
They are 51-62, 21 games out of first place. So hold off on any playoff hopes.

14. Nah. Just Screwed Being A Cubs Fan
The Bears will be better, and certainly more entertaining. The Bulls are coming out of their period of horrible dormancy. And, the Hawks got a good goaltender.

Besides the Sox are really good. At least one of the teams isn't a disappointment.

15. WOW! A whole 2 in a row... and against the
mighty Cubs... Just Wow.

Can a Cub fan go anywhere on the net and escape the depression that is our '05 season?

16. Take heart
The Reds SUCK ASS. They are so deep in the cellar, it will take years before they ever finish better than last place.

Disappointing as the Cubs season is, it still outshines the Reds by such a far margin as to be laughable.

20. By a hair
But by season's end, the Reds will reclaim their suckage status.

My team is sucking this year too, but I have the good sense to keep quiet about it. ;-)

22. We're mathematically in it though
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 10:50 AM by ZombyWoof
It's such a weak division, it is still up for grabs, except for the Rockies.

There was nothing wrong with Al Capone. At least we were never owned by an avowed racist/nazi paraphenalia collector like Marge Schott. That's a stain I would hate to have on my past.

And LA has had injuries galore. No amount of money can stop those.
