Poll question: How Do You View Long Threads At DU? |
|
Do you hit "view all" to read the entire thread, every post. Or do you just click on the title of the thread and look for any familiar DUers who replied to it?

I figure that it will take forever on my-dial up and everything has been pretty much been said anyway.

4. I have dial up and hate when a person with a big photo in their Sig |
|
leaves 3 or more responses in a longer thread. It slows down the load-time so much on my computer. Then if there are a few people on the thread with photos of their dogs, cartoon characters, and a bumpersticker for their candidate, I am ready to kill if I really want to read the thread because it is close to impossible unless I have 2 hours to spare.

1. On threads with 20 or more replies, I read the subject and click on it iff |
|
it is interesting. I wish those who reply would give a very descriptive subject statement, otherwise I will not read their reply.

2. I usually hit view all |
|
particularly if there are more than one new replies since the last time I checked. It may take awhile on dialup, but still faster than loading each new post individually.

5. I always thought you were a MR. I am shocked |
|
unless you are using the MS. as cyber drag or a joke. I really am surprised. I love that about the internet. It really shows how wrong I can be in perceiving others.

9. I believe you once wrote of your knowledge of science |
|
I hope I did not just assume you were male due to that old "study" about men being made for the sciences. But you do have a great vocabulary, I think that is part of the female intellectual cliché that is promulgated by some. ;-)
I am a bad, bad man. :)

I thought all along you were a woman. I guess it is because you chose a screen name that ends in "i."
FWIW, I check the subject line of a few responses. If there is something interesting among the replies or if there is the possibility of an interesting photo posted among the replies I'll view all the responses.
Since getting a fat pipe and fast cpu I am able to open the "How long will this thread die" 1000+ reply post in only 43 seconds.

They were looking for the rimshot smiley.
:)
edit: (wouldn't be a fair fight applying your wit to my spelling skills, would it? :P)

15. Don't worry about spelling |
|
If I worried about that then I'd never post a single thread.
;-)
A rimshot smiley would be damn nice.

13. My elderly computer can't handle excessively long threads |
|
so I just ignore them. I wouldn't DREAM of clicking on that thousand-post monster.

14. I view the title first and |
|
then if there are alot of interesting replies I "view all". If they aren't overwhelmingly interesting then I just click the ones that appeal to me.
