Today-ME one week smokeless

I had my last smoke the day we brought our daughter home from the hospital. I sat outside and smoked two, finishing right at Midnight last Tuesday (going into Wednesday) so at midnight tonight it will be one week.

I don't miss it that much except the going outside and having a smoke relaxing part. If I didn't smoke THIS week (baby and hormone-mad Mom) I can't see that I will in the future---not counting any chickens yet though.

First thing in the morning (whenever that is) and after meals are the hardest times. The patch is doing great ($51 for 14 patches).

Oh I haven't had anything to drink :beer: since our girl was born either.

I just did my 100th situp of the morning. I went workout crazy the last two weeks-I can't believe how much of a difference not smoking makes in my daily runs... I knew it would be different but basically I can run as long as I want to and finish without being winded. Amazing.

He had a benign growth in his mouth, removed by an oral surgeon. I think it must have scared him. I believe he said he smoked cigars and a pipe.

Good luck to both of you! I have been addicted before (not to drugs or cigarettes), and went through a 12-step program that was very helpful. The withdrawal was pretty tough, but I survived. You can, too. Take one day at a time. If that doesn't work, try one hour at a time. If that doesn't work, try one minute at a time...

5. Yeah between the looks I got in the hospital....

(not that hospital workers don't smoke) and having to take a shower after coming back into the house after every smoke..... oh and the needing to quit the kid stuff.....it wasn't a hard choice.

11. I visit cancer survivors every friday

at Duke Hospital (I'm a 13 year survivor myself) and I've seen first hand what smoking can do to your body. The majority of people in the hospital did smoke and still are (makes no freakin' sense to me). You're better off not smoking, or allowing it near your child or wife. Doing the tufer (stopping smoking and drinking at the same time) is FOUR times as hard as doing either one.
If you can stop for a week; you can stop for two weeks.
If you can stop for two weeks; you can stop for a month.
If you can stop for a month; you are not addicted and you can stop forever.

I quit smoking almost 7 years ago, and I still get cravings. I was so close to picking up a pack of my old brand the other day, then I thought, how can I possibly smoke? I'm a mom!

It's so scary, isn't it? Now that Garrison is older, I don't worry about it as much...but those first few months!

My niece was born around the same time as my son, and I saw her in her crib one day, put to sleep on her tummy, with a blanket, a pillow and a stuffed animal, my brother-in-law downstairs having a cigar, plus she was never breast-fed--not even the colostrum. I was like, my god! 5 risk factors at the same time!

But my niece is fine.

Still, we did everything we could possibly do, and I don't know why any parent wouldn't. (Tho' I'd never get on anyone's case about breast-feeding. I think it's important, but it's also VERY difficult, and very personal.)

I quit for the adoption of my son, 11 years ago.

I still consider it one of the best gifts I could ever give him.

I used the patch and it worked but man..it was a tremendously difficult challenge. I also ate...alot. Pizza and pretzels.

Keep it up. You can't even TOUCH a cigarette from now on. Don't do it. You've made it a very long way already. You don't need those stinking coffin nails any more.

And I bet that new little baby smells sooooo goooood!
