Poll question: What Makes You A Fan Of The Sports Teams You Root For?
I like all of the four major sports equally. And I got into them at different times in my life.

When I was a little kid I was a Mets fan. I got into baseball when I played little league and was given #16 - Doc Gooden's number.

So, thus I had to be a Mets fan. :D

Then later on I got into hockey, basketball and football. I became a fan of the NY Islanders, NJ Nets and the NY Jets.

The hockey and basketball one's are easy to explain. I had basic cable's Sportschannel and not premium channel's MSG Network (which carried the Rangers and Knicks).

And I'm a Jets fan because my dad is a Giants fan and love to argue with him. }(

Now, I realize that not everyone here is blessed with having multiple sports teams in your home area to root for.

So, assuming that you had a choice of sports teams to root for, why did you choose the one you did?

So why do you root for the teams you root for?

1. Dad and Mom are from Wis.
So I HAVE to be a Packers fan!! Especially cause it annoys the neighbors back in Minnesota. Dad really rubs it in when the Packers beat the Vikings, but is always off being busy if the Vikings win!

2. no pro teams around here
But I grew up just a little way down the road from Bear Bryant's house, so I really had little choice in the matter. :)

3. Other--Haven't a clue!
Grew up in CT, and neighborhood was equally divided between Red Sox and Yankees fans--my parents were ambivalent Red Sox fans. Somehow I go in with the good group, and not the Cult of Satan.

As for football, it's the NY Giants. The Jets didn't count back then, and there were no New Engalnd Patriots yet!

4. NY Rangers
I live in Southwest Ohio where there's little to no hockey where I live. Lone night after watching team USA get it's ass handed to them in Lillehammer, I sat down and watched an NHL game. It was the Rangers vs the Devils. The Devils ended up wining 6-5 but I fell in love with how Mark Messier and the Rangers played. That's how I became a Randers fan. My Mom & Dad are Ohio State grads so that's why I'm a Buckeye fan.
