Then you'll really feel it.

10. If you go back to the gym you go into the pool and that's it!
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 01:41 PM by norml
You are almost certain to injure yourself further if you try, while on strong pain pills, to do anything like weight lifting today.

You should be using the medicated state you're in to relax the back.

Also, NO DRIVING WHILE ON STRONG PAIN PILLS, Fool!

12. So you are still having back pain?
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 01:39 PM by Shell Beau
That sucks, but I guess the pain medication makes up for it! :P When I had the flu a few months back the cough syrup they gave me had a lot of that in it. It was the best damn cough syrup I've ever had. And it tasted like candy instead of medicine.

17. Don't drive on those things
I have a bad back too. I only take the vic's when absolutely necessary.

A couple of weeks ago, I was tearing out my fence, and felt my back give out. I figured I'd take a couple and continue working, but 30 minutes later I was too fucked up to do anything.

18. That stuff is nice
But don't mix it with alcohol and don't drive. Also be sure to give your body time to heal. I've just started working out and I'm sometimes having to force myself not to overdo it. It would be worse to get injured and be laid up than to just take it slow for the time being.

19. Lightweight!
I get Norco, which is 10mg Hydrocodone, and it's written to take 2 every 4 hours. 100 tablets is a 12-day supply as written.

20. I'm glad I don't have anything that requires that much
What I have is bad enough. I have PRN Vicodin 5/500 as a rescue med for intractable migraines and PRN Percocet 5/500 for cramps.

21. I Have Imitrex Stat Dose for Migraine Rescue
But since starting Topamax, I haven't needed it (I had migraines about twice a week, each lasting 72-96 hours).

I have kidney stones the way most chicks have periods. Well, except stones hurt more but cause less bleeding.

22. I have Imitrex, Relpax and Amerge for abortives
The Vicodin is for when they don't work after several doses or in conjunction with a triptan for excrutiating migraines. Of course I'm not supposed to take any of the "triptan" meds within 24 hours of each other (the reason I have more than one is primarily to get around insurance limits). However when desperate I have done it on occasion.

23. Hve You Tried Maxalt?
That stuff's amazing! I used the Maxalt Melt tablets, but as I said, since being put on Topamax, I rarely get either classic or optic migraines (optics aren't as bad - just go blind in one eye for 4 hours with some really vivid auras). My migraines are classified as as severe or disabling or something that allowed me to take 3 doses of triptans in 24 hours if needed.

Hydrocodone's never helped me with a migraine, but Fiorinal worked if I took it early enough.

24. Yes, I've tried it
It works about the same as the Imitrex and Amerge. Relpax is the one that works best for me but it's not on my formulary and comes in a six-pack. Therefore at $35 per prescription I'm paying $5.83 per tablet. I actually only got one package since I got a $20 off coupon for it. Imitrex is on my formulary and comes in a 9 pack, so for $20 per prescription I'm paying only $2.22 per tablet. Therefore even if I occasionally have to take two of them I'm still making out better than with the Relpax. I get Amerge, even though it's not formulary since that comes in a 9-pack. Therefore it's $3.88 per tablet. I have a limit of 9 Imitrex a month and that's not enough so I get the Amerge to supplement my supply.

I'm on Topamax and Verpamil as prophylactic meds. The Topamax is helpful but not enough. A "good" week for me is only having two migraines. Some months I've had 10-day bouts of status migrainous . I'm going to be seeing a neurologist soon to determine the next course of action.

25. Topamax and Elavil, So Far, Are Working, Knock Wood!
I bet you have to go get your retinas checked every 6 months, too. I HATE those retina exams - they don't hurt but they make me very nervous.

The neurologist loves me; apparently having both classic and optics is rare and it's even rarer to be the documented third generation so afflicted. All I know is for *years* I thought it was sinus headaches making me go literally blind at times (seems to be a common confusion, but DUH!).

26. I've been rather lax about my eye exams
I'm well overdue for mine right now The biggest obstacle is my wacky schedule, but I do have to get it done before I have a problem.
