2. I would be way more comfy around hippies than Yuppies. I babysat for

yuppies for years and I always felt like I wasn't enough, ya know? Their brand and lifestyle obsession leaked out into me for a while there, left me feeling very disatisfied with who I am.

I may not agree with the hippies' decidely "open" attitude toward drug experimentation and promiscuity, but I applaud their politics; the yuppie ethos, on the other hand, is mired in materialism.

6. Hippies!

I've always found it weird when I run into the occasional liberal-minded person who dislikes hippies. I always thought having a certain amount of respect for hippies just went hand in hand with being a liberal. It is good to see that DU seems to be pretty solidly pro-hippie and anti-yuppie.

For most of my life I've had a certain fascination with hippies, and have done my part to be a wannabe neo-hippie. I've got the hair (well, I did, and it's on its way back again), the liberal political ideology, and the love for sixties and seventies music. I've done some protesting and political campaigning. I am clean when it comes to drugs, though, and have a pretty uptight demeanor, so that's why I guess I'm no more than a wannabe. But if I'm not a hippie, I'm at least a hippie supporter!

only if they happen to stand for something outside themselves. Some of them tend not to care about politics, fellow man, the human condition. Those hippies are slackers.

I am in a rock band however, so I can't be all yuppiness.
