3. Is the whole day like that, or just parts? |
|
My favorite part of the day is having breakfast with my buds at 7:00AM, just before the rest of the staff starts rolling in.
Then it's down hill all the way till it's time to come home.
How about your day?

Thinking how bad it will be. Sometimes it works out to be not so bad. :eyes:

I don't mean just the end of the day and the start of the weekend.
On Fridays, the crew orders out Thai food and we have it brought in to the office. It has become a tradition. There are about 20 of us that get together and have Thai food every Friday. Managers, supervisors, all they way to co-ops sit down in a big conference room and just have a blast watching each other turn bright red, start sweating, and cry from the spices. Two stars (double spice) is the bare minimum. All the way to five stars for the chilly heads.
Man, I do love that bunch of people!

that job. :(
Not a great job market here anymore for IT people. I am not even in that field anymore. No jobs at all.

24. I have a brother who used to be poor |
|
Barely made it from paycheck to paycheck. Used to have a lot of free time to spend with his wife and kids.
Now he is an industrialist. Owns a company with offices here and in various countries in Latin America. He is, in two words, filthy rich.
But you know, he really really misses having the free time to spend with his family. It's not clear whether he owns a company, or the company owns him.
I, on the other hand, have neither time nor money...

My doctor tells me to avoid stress. She has never given me a clue, however, as to how that's done. Not knowing tends to stress me out. :silly:

14. Told my boss I needed some peace and quiet to do my job... |
|
Spent the entire day explaining why this was important.
- Leave me the f*ck alone - I says - Let's talk about it. Why do you need to be alone? - she says - So I can program in peace - I says. - Tell me why - she says - Because I can either program, or talk to you, but not both - I says. - You need to be able to handle more than one thing at a time - she says.
- Oh, by the way, you're running behind schedule. Shall I load you down with untrained interns to speed up the project? - She says.
- Just shoot me. Please.

My doctor says it's stress. I am a stressed person, that's my personality. So I'm with you there. How does one change one's personality?
He tried me on Wellbutrin, and it cut the highs (and lows) and I was bored to tears! So I quit that crap.

7. i like what Bill Maher said on Letterman |
|
about stress. it is natural. stress is good. animals live in constant state of stress. like yesterday, teaching my kid to drive. i say, you can take a free right here if nothing is coming your way. (we're at a red light) so she pulls out in front of a cement truck going approx 50 miles per hour. "floor it!" i command. which she does. she leaves rubber on the pavement. what a rush, right? after my lecture, and her visible understanding of the situation, we went to watch the sunset, feeling somehow closer.

18. I think it's called TMJ |
|
Some people grind their teeth down in their sleep from the stress.
I sometimes feel my teeth hurt, but it's usually from a sinus infection, which I get when I'm stressed out.

32. I know what you are talking about, but it's not that |
|
I had TMJ from an injury once and it hurt like hell.
This is merely tension, i.e., I'm not clenching my teeth but rather setting my jaw.
Oh well, it makes sense to me. It tells me I need to have a glass of wine and relax.

13. For me, the definition of stress is being in a situation where there is |
|
trouble, and my not being able to do ONE thing about it...
The complete and utter feeling of helplessness in this situation is truly godawful...
And it is so hard to shake off, as well...

over your destiny.
People that feel in control of their lives live happier, fuller, richer, longer lives.
Not us working grunts.

My wife stayed home to raise them because she really hated the work environment. But then it meant we've had to live on one salary and the limited money has been a real stress on her as well.
Traded one stress for another, I'm afraid.
Hang in there!

I quit work when my kids were little, too. This job is a Godsend because it took a load of weight off my husband's shoulders as the 'sole provider' and I really love doing it. Very interesting work.
I feel like I got the best of both worlds, but it still ain't easy. Trying to explain to an 8 year old that you are on a deadline doesn't work when she wants to do a craft.
This too shall pass.

Cherish and enjoy the fleeting moments. Live vicariously through her as much as you can.
I do miss being the center of the universe to my children, now that they are 'independent', sort of.

Just demanding at times. Gets wearying at times.
I think I also feel that way because I am going on vacation next week, and feeling just how tired and burned out I am.

Not that my life doesn't have stress. It probably has more stress than most people here can imagine. I just don't obsess and I know how to manage it. I tend to look at the positive more than the negative. That's just me. (And humor helps.) :)
