Poll question: Best Ennio Morricone Movie Soundtrack
I'm torn between The Mission and Cinema Paradiso--I haven't even voted in my own poll yet!

1. "Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion!"
Though I clicked on one of the others above... but damn, what a tough call...

Great idea for a poll, though...

2. I'm listening to his anthology right now, so it got me thinking
I guess he never won an Oscar--now that's a crime.

4. *which* anthology?
there are a few - Italian pressings, English-language releases, etc.

I have his Western music collection myself, but it doesn't have the "Good, Bad, Ugly" tracks on it...

That's right -- kind of an underrated score.

And let's not forget: "Moses, the Lawgiver!"

It was either that or The Mission.

I could listen to either all day.

10. You must have read my mind!
I was thinking about posting something about Ennio yesterday. Once Upon a Time in the West has some haunting music.

11. Glad I beat you to it!
You know, I don't even know if he's alive still? I assume yes. Maybe the Academy will give him a lifetime Oscar to make up for their horrid ommission.

14. Wow, I knew he was prolific, but geesh!
Doesn't he ever sleep.

Did not know he did Kill Bill. I have no desire to see another tarantino film, but maybe I should. Or maybe I should just buy the soundtrack.

12. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The real name is: The Good, the Ugly, The Bad (Italian translation).

The Good, the Ugly, The Bad has by far the best soundtrack of any movie.

I should know!!!!

Too bad you missed being in "Once Upon a Time in the West" and "The Wild Bunch" -- you would've hit the "trifecta" -- plus one!

22. we must agree...
...to disagree on that. It's not that the two you mentioned weren't/aren't great -- they are -- they're just not the sole entrants on that "greatest western" list.

That's all.

Can't be that bad if Ennio did it--he's wonderful and can be forgiven a lot.

Come on, the trio gunfight!?!? Never has film and music been so well orchestrated! Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone made history together.
