Which frivolous purchase should I make?

I have a dilemma- there are two frivolous purchases I plan to make this weekend:
1.either a MIDI controller so I can do home recording with ease,


2. or the Sims 2, which will bring me hours of enjoyment and lost time



I'm leaning toward the MIDI controller- I've been wanting to learn how to play the keyboard properly, and so has Cathyclysmic, but damn, the Sims 2 looks like fun!
