16. Ok, how do I open a command prompt?
And could this help me trace where I get my unwanted spam mail?

18. I think it's in accessories on your start menu
No, it won't help you trace from whence your spam comes. And also, I've just learned that pinging my router from the outside world has no effect, so that address I gave you is useless for seeing what a ping does.

Essentially when you ping a device, you send it a message that means "are you there?" and the device will be programmed to respond with a "yes, I am here." It's used for testing networks; if you can ping a device on a network then that tells you the network is working.
