How about a cool lesser-known women thread?
I'll start with Medha Patkar, who has led protests on behalf of India's Save the Narmada project, which struggles against the construction of huge dams on the Narmada river. Patkar and her supporters claim, among other things, that the proposed dams could disrupt the lives of millions without adequte compensation, would not solve the very real water issues they purport to solve, and that alternative means would be more efficient, cheaper, less disruptive to the local people, and environmentally sounder.
