My SO is so negative Re: Sheehan
Don't get me wrong, he thinks what she's doing is great. But when I was last talking about her, he hit me with "WHAT media is reporting her? Is she even ON the news? You know most people may see her if she even gets on the news but they will just go right back to eating their dinner and watching their reality tv. Nothing to see here."

He really doubted that she would get any coverage- but she's on CNN, MSNBC, local news in different areas, etc etc. And she will be on the cover of People Magazine!

This is so exciting! I am so happy that she is getting her voice heard everywhere.

His negativity stems from the fact that his step dad is out in Iraq. It's like this huge weight on him, he is so scared for his step dad. He hates this Administration, he hates the media, and he doesn't see any hope, no light at the end of the tunnel. I can't wait to share with him all the media appearances she has been making!

1. I think this is actually more common than it appears.
Some have reached their "threshold" regarding all the lies and deceit and would rather not hear about it. They're jaded.

The point that his stepdad is over there would hopefully make him keep aware of what's going on here. It's just all happening so fast.

It's nice to have him on our side. Remind him.

2. How about the Chicago Trib?
You're close enough to read that.

Grieving mom draws attention

By Edwin Chen and Dana Calvo
Tribune Newspapers: Los Angeles Times
Published August 11, 2005

CRAWFORD, Texas -- For more than a year, a modest bungalow a few miles from President Bush's ranch and known as "Peace House" served as the somewhat forlorn local headquarters for anti-war activists. It was lonely work, with little more than a skeleton crew on duty most of the time.

But that was before Cindy Sheehan hit town.

The 48-year-old mother of Army Spec. Casey Sheehan, who was killed in an ambush in Baghdad last year, Sheehan is consumed by the kind of grief that turns into a furious determination to do something. In her case it is to confront the president personally and force him to explain why her son died.

Now, in just a few days, what began as a seemingly quixotic personal mission has become something of a phenomenon. News media from across the country are swarming around Sheehan, leading liberal and anti-war activists are arriving to try to make her their long-sought voice and political experts in both parties are trying to assess whether she might become a catalyst for the public's growing unhappiness with U.S. casualties in Iraq.
