I haven't had a cigarette in a week |
|
and I just took a drag off of one. It tasted horrible. I really thought I wanted it but it was yucky. And my fingers smell awful.

2. But quitters don't smell gross |
|
That is the worst thing about smoking, IMO. It smells awful.

4. For me, it was one ultra-phlegmy morning hack too many. |
|
Not that you needed to know that, but it was a good disincentive for me.

There's support all over the web, and at least a dozen different ways to quit.
Keep at it, and you WILL be successful.

It is funny - it hasn't been hard at all so far. I am using nicorette gum and Committ lozenges.

10. The gum is what worked for me. |
|
And I didn't pay attention to the schedule for quitting. Just chewed it when I wanted to, and I quit sooner than the schedule would have had me do.

12. The package says to plan on |
|
8 or 9 every day. I am not a gum chewer so it is hard for me to have 4 a day, not to mention 8. The lozenges say 8 or 9 also. But they are pretty gross. I like the gum better. Once school starts, I will go back to the lozenges, since I can't really chew gum in class.

15. Do what works for you, and see if your gum-chewing |
|
can't be considered an exception at school. (Does the faculty want you healthier, or not?)

and since I won't let my students chew gum, I won't be a hypocrite and chew it in front of them.

19. It's medicine, not a Wrigley's burst of chewing satisfaction. |
|
I mean, you wouldn't let your students shoot heroin in class, but if you were diabetic....

It would be hypocritical of me to do something I ask them not to do.

I quit cold turkey 16 years ago. About three or four years after I quit I had a few drinks and bummed a cigarette off a friend. I lit up, took a deep drag and promptly puked my guts out.
Just wait till your sense of taste comes back, man! Food is going to taste a whole lot better.

8. My sense of smell is already a whole lot better |
|
That is really weird. I had no idea I was not smelling all these things I am smelling now.

It's amazing how you never realize how bad cigarettes smell until after you quit smoking for a while and you get your sense of smell back.
Anyway, don't start kicking yourself over the brief relapse. Just climb back on that non-smoking wagon.

I have made up my mind that I don't want to smoke anymore. I think that is half the battle.

I've never been a smoker but I have my vices and I know it's tough to change one's habits. Keep it up!

but notice that most people there are looking pretty svelte. Time to start doing the yoga again.
It sucks being over forty and female. Forgive me for bitching.
