House of 1,000 Corpses.
I just saw this tonite, I was amazed by it.

Much to my chagrin, I could scarcely find a positive review on it online. All the reviews seemed to reference 'the hype' that this movie went up against, which I must've of missed.

So as a horror-movie fan, and fairly objective (and bored) person, I rented it.

Flat out, since the first Nightmare on Elm Street, it is the scariest movie I have ever seen. And given it's genre I guess it would be the best scary movie I have ever seen. The only one I can think of right now that would rival it would be Evil Dead 2... and that wasn't so scary as it was really good.

What did you guys think of it? Rob Zombie has some kind of imagination, wish I could see the NC-17 cut.

Several DUers have agreed with me on this, btw...

70's horror films, of which this is supposed to honor, have one rule--no matter how horrible the experience, one person must survive.
They're usually totally ruined for life, but there must be one survivor. And that surviver must have a chance to fight back, even if it is for a little while.

2. I liked the ending...
I just wish I didn't watch the special features on the DVD, so I didn't know the fat clown was a complete accomplice.

Too little Dr Satan, for my tastes. The idea of a demonic doctor that keeps you alive only to perform extremely painful expirements on your body and your brain just hits home to me.

OT: When Mother was explaining the burning of the house that ruined Tiny, was the character depicted as Father in the flashback not the same mechanation as the one that was chasing the girl through the tunnels (and got crushed by the debris) towards the end?

Damn, good horror movie. I hear a sequal is coming out.
