9. The combination of the OHMSS story and Diana Rigg...

...was a winner.

There are some who feel that Lazenby played the character closest to the Fleming books, which may be true...BUT...

Connery had the original screen presence and charisma, and cast a MIGHTY LARGE shadow.

I love all the Bonds. In fact, and I know this is unpopular given how recent they are and how the quality of the films (besides GoldenEye, which was fantastic) are in question, but I think Brosnan is my favorite. I thought he combined Connery's toughness with Moore's wit and added a layer of sensitivity to create an ultimate amalgatation of Bond. I can't be the only one who was upset when he was fired from the role.

Brosnan had hinted at leaving the Bond role for some time. In other words, he could have kept it if he wanted to.

17. I think he was game for one more.

He wanted to do five to tie with Connery's initial run (up to On Her Majesty's Secret Service), but EON got on this kick about Brosnan being too old and them wanting a young Bond, which I cry foul to. The thing I like about Bond is that he isn't a guy in his '20s. He's an experienced, world-wise guy.

Now it sounds like instead of doing a "prequel" of sorts with a young Bond, they're rebooting the franchise entirely, as Casino Royale will be about Bond's early days, yet Judi Dench will still play M (and her character was introduced in GoldenEye). Whatever. And they're also missing a great marketing oppurtunity by having the film released in 2006 instead of 2007. How can there be no '007 in 2007' plans?

Connery was perfect for his time - a no-nonsense man of action. Dalton was perfect for the modern era - a darker and more complex character who clearly had some inner doubts about the things he had to do. He also showed the broadest range of emotions of any Bond portrayer.

I always thought Dalton had exactly the right balance of the character traits Bond showed in the original Fleming books.

Moore just plain sucked in everything but "The Spy Who Loved Me." Brosnan was always solid and believable in the role, though he lacked Dalton's complexity.
