30 years ago today I had one of the most embarrassing moments of my life |
|
August 12, 1975. I was 15 days away from my 13th birthday. My sister was visiting from California and wanted to take me to get my ears pierced, and this was the day! It was a typical 105° day in Kansas, and I was a nervous wreck. To make matters worse, Sis and Mom kept yapping and took their time about getting off the couch and conveying me to the jewelry store.
When we finally got there and the deed was done, all was well. I had no problems with the actual procedure. However, when we walked out of the store, I suddenly felt faint and started whirling around. I made a couple of loop-de-loops and crashed into the jewelry store window, breaking my glasses. People across the street were staring at me as though I'd lost my mind.
This embarrassing incident shall forever remain emblazoned on my memory!

1. You should have sued for injury and pain and suffering... |
|
You would be on Easy Street right now.

6. what about the jeweler! Think how much they suffered! |
|
a young customer twirling about on the street outside, doing the death scene from Traviata before crashing into the plate glass window and sliding to the ground.
It could not possibly have been good for business.

My embarrassing experience is so bad I can't even talk about it. And don't make me try.

4. at least you didn't break the jewerly store window! |
|
but the first time I gave blood. I didn't stay seated afterward long enough and I insisted, "I'm fine" and got up and within a couple of steps--I fainted. It was only for a couple of seconds but, boy was I embarrassed. They told me, "you better sit down a little longer and have some orange juice."

8. That's the other time I've fainted in my life! |
|
I didn't eat lunch before donating blood, and when I was walking to the cookie table afterward I found myself on the floor looking up! Taught me a lesson!

10. The first time I gave blood |
|
I basically went into shock. That was also the last time I gave blood. The nurses were very nice and took good care of me though. I still felt embarrassed.

7. Oh I wouldn't worry about it. |

That seems like normal behavior for people from Kansas. :patriot:
