My freezer isn't working correctly!
The stuff in there is only, like, half frozen. The refrigerator seems to be working okay.

What's wrong?

1. Kick it, over and over,,,,
I swear in college many moons ago, we had a fridge that would do similar things and we would kick it and it would work for a while. We were to poor to get it fixed. I hate that for you, we don't appreciate such appliances until they are broken.

2. Dr. Answer here! To the rescue!
Is your freezer a stand-alone? Or part of your fridge? If part of your fridge, check to make sure that it's at least 2-3 inches away from the wall. It needs to breath. Also clean behind your fridge. The cooler coils could be covered in dust and blocking up.

If it's a deep-freeze, then it should be filled. For some reason, freezers work best when full.

Other than that, I got nothing.

4. That's cool (no pun intended).
It could very easily be clogged.

Thanks.

5. Locate the defrost timer, it looks like this...

test it... google defrost timer and take the "how to test the defrost timer" link. It was my first link.

if bad replace, if not check your defrost coils and see if they are covered in ice. If so, use a blowdryer to melt the ice. ( DO not use a torch or open flame!)
After the ice is melted, check the drain tube to see if it is clogged.

One of these are usually the problem.

See the post above about apprpriate spacing from the wall and dusting the coils. You will also want to make sure the fan(s) are working and the air flow path(if bottom coils) is clear and continuous.
