2. I like him...wouldn't go so far as to love him
Correction, I like a lot of his songs. Don't know him personally. I decided that I was old when I mention cartoons that I watched as a kid, and my son said "WHO???????"

18. Ah, well that's a good excuse!
So glad my kids are back in school. Peace and quiet from 7 AM until around 4:30 when the bus brings them home.

I WISH I was in Crawford!

10. don't feel bad, KitchenWitch, I just bought Olivia Newton John's new album
and you have to buy it at Hallmark stores because no one will give the poor old thing a record contract.

It's actually pretty good, though. And I like Neil Diamond, too.

You can't beat the 70s.

12. I saw him 10th row on the floor of LA convention center
8 days in a row. My lifelong girlfriend was then married to his business mgr. Went backstage to met him and was very nice. I also for many years LOVED him but now love his music and have moved on to different genres.

14. Me too! Don’t need to say please to no man for a happy tune
Cracklin’ rosie

Cracklin’ rosie, get on board
We’re gonna ride till there ain’t no more to go
Taking it slow
Lord, don’t you know
Have made me a time with a poor man’s lady

Hitchin’ on a twilight train
Ain’t nothing here that I care to take along
Maybe a song
To sing when I want
Don’t need to say please to no man for a happy tune

Oh, I love my rosie child
You got the way to make me happy
You and me, we go in style
Cracklin rose, you’re a store bought woman
You make me sing like a guitar hummin’
So hang on to me, girl
Our song keeps runnin’ on

Play it now
Play it now, my baby

Cracklin’ rosie, make me a smile
Girl if it lasts for an hour, that’s al right
We got all night
To set the world right
Find us a dream that don’t ask no questions, yeah

Oh, I love my rosie child
You got the way to make me happy
You and me, we go in style
Cracklin rose, you’re a store-bought woman
You make me sing like a guitar hummin’

22. Thanks for the kind words. In honor of August in Texas.
Brother love’s travelling salvation show

Written by: Neil diamond

Hot august night
And the leaves hanging down
And the grass on the ground smelling sweet
Move up the road
To the outside of town
And the sound of that good gospel beat

Sits a ragged tent
Where there ain’t no trees
And that gospel group
Telling you and me

It’s love, love
Brother love’s travelling salvation show
Pack up the babies
Grab the old ladies
Everyone goes
Everyone knows
Brother love’s show

Room gets suddenly still
And when you’d almost bet
You could hear yourself sweat, he walks in
Eyes black as coal
And when he lifts his face
Every ear in the place is on him

Starting soft and slow
Like a small earthquake
And when he lets go
Half the valley shakes

It’s love, love
Brother love’s travelling salvation show
Pack up the babies
Grab the old ladies
Everyone goes
Everyone knows
Brother love’s show

(sermon)
Take my hand in your hand
Walk with me this day
In my heart I know
I will never stray
Halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle

It’s love, love
Brother love’s travelling salvation show
Pack up the babies
Grab the old ladies
Everyone goes
Everyone knows
Brother love’s show
Amen

Cracklin’ rosie

Cracklin’ rosie, get on board

27. Saw Me Diamond last week...when he did Brother love..he added
new lyrics to the sermon.. "black or white ... gay or straight ... we are all God's children." A nice touch I thought. Only trouble is now I have Here comes to morrow stuck in my head. Damn can't find my Monkeys album either.

20. No. Hell no. That was Will Ferrell's "Neil Diamond- Storytellers" bit
on SNL. One of the funniest skits ever- he portrayed Neil Diamond as an out of control xenophobe, pill-popping lech. which he isn't, of course. ;)

25. "Solitary Man" was a great tune
Apart from that and perhaps "Hello Again", I can't really say I'm a big fan. But I don't dislike his stuff and can understand why some people would appreciate his music.

26. Don't apologize and no, it doesn't make you old!
Favorite Neil Diamond songs:

Play Me

She was morning
And I was night time
I one day woke up
To find her lying
Beside my bed
I softly said
"Come take me"
For I've been lonely
In need of someone
As though I'd done
Someone wrong somewhere
But, I don't know where
I don't know where
Come lately

You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me

Song she sang to me
Song she brang to me
Words that rang in me
Rhyme that sprang from me
Warmed the night
And what was right
Became me

You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me

And so it was
That I came to travel
Upon a road
That was thorned and narrow
Another place
Another grace
Would save me

You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me

You are the sun
I am the moon
You are the words
I am the tune
Play me

28. And of course Shilo
young child with dreams
dream ev'ry dream on your own
when children play
seems like you end up alone
papa says he'd love to be with you
if he had the time
so you turn on the only friend you can find
there in your mind
shilo, when i was young
i used to call you name
when no one else would come
shilo, you always cameand we'd play
young girl with fire
something said she understood
i wanted to fly
she made me feel like i could
held my hand out, and i let her take me
blind as a child
all i saw was the way that she made me smile
she made me smile
shilo, when i was young
i used to call you name
when no one else would come
shilo, you always cameand you'd stay
had a dream, and it filled me with wonder
she had other plans
"got to go, and i know that you'll understand"
i understandshilo, when i was young
i used to call you name
when no one else would come
shilo, you always came
come today
