Since we're on the topic, I'd just like to thank the DLC

Whatever the relative merits of their political philosophy (moderation is okay but moderation for moderation's sake is a losing proposition - call me crazy) maybe they should be judged instead on the success they've had actually advancing that philosophical agenda.

Well f*ck-o they haven't been very effective and this is not even taking into consideration the lameness of the philosophy, only the DLC's inability to execute it. The biggest success the DLC had was Clinton's presidency and he couldn't even control the agenda from the position of the majority. The DLC as a political machine can't achieve its objectives (unless losing elections IS the objective) - so why not try something different for a change?
I thought DLC'ers were supposed to be pragmatic - so why not embrace working with the rest of the party? - the majority of which are not Washington insiders.
Act like Democrats and embrace DEMOCRACY instead of talking down to everyone who isn't willing to fall in line with the strategy of finessing themselves out of giving a meaningful opinion on any given issue.
