You know where you find the worst gutbombs? |
|
At state fairs.
I mean, deep-fried battered everything. (Including Twinkies!) :wow:
Pork on a stick.
Cotton Candy that's light on the cotton and heavy on the candy.
Any more?

13. MN State Fair always runs 12 days, ending on Labor Day. |
|
I went every year from the time I was born until I missed my first time in 2001. Went last year; have to miss this year again.

12. The big thing at the MN State Fair a few years ago |
|
was batter dipped and deep fried snickers bars.
There is a reason the State Fair is called "Coronary on a stick"

15. I like to start my day at the Fair with a Pronto Pup... |
|
and a bag of Tom Thumb donuts.
And don't try selling me a Poncho Dog, either! I want the authentic Pronto Pup. :)
My husband likes to start out with a footlong hotdog with onions.

18. Oh I am with you on the Pronto Pup |
|
and the Tom Thumb donuts....I am such a purist when it comes to these things...I grew up in the same neighborhood as the people who owned and operated Tom Thumb donuts!
I also have to go to the sweet corn booth and have an ear.

I've got a sudden hankering to hang out in the park by the grandstand watching people and eating all kinds of food that's really bad for me.

21. Pronto Pups and Tom Thumb donuts? |
|
Pronto Pups are like corn dogs, only the batter is a wheat based batter.
Tom Thumb donuts are mini donuts.

Why, the original "Weiner Dun In A Bun."
It's a corn dog, but not just any corn dog. It's a Pronto Pup.

19. I think it is the best of the county fairs near the metro. |
|
It has really expanded. There used to be about 20 food vendors, now there are about 100.

6. There is a place here called Krystal's that sells little burgers |
|
I think they don't keep them so clean. I call their burgers "botchilburgers". Every two years or so, I have to have the damned things. Then, I wait two years, because I remember what they did to me.

At a White Castle, you take your chances, but buy 'em in the supermarket, you can cook them yourself.
