It was somewhere between 8:30pm-9pm. I was sitting in my bedroom watching a DVD of the movie Sling Blade. My bedroom has two windows. One facing south. The other facing east. I was sitting beside the window facing south. Both of my windows are wide open because I have no air condioning.
If you look outside my south window, you will see the roof of the house next door, beyond that are the treetops, and naturally the sky.
It was a cloudy evening which blocked out the stars and the moon (assuming there was a moon out last night). During the movie I just happened to glance out the window when all of the sudden from behind the treetops a diamond shaped craft came flying in a north-northeast direction...towards me and my house. This craft was lit up with an orange glow around the edges and a bright white in the middle.
It moved at an incredible speed without making a sound. Not one sound was made by it. It took no more than a couple of seconds to come out from beyond the treetops, across the sky underneath the clouds, to over the roof of my house and out of my sight.
I've seen airplanes AND helicopters fly at various altitudes over my neighborhood and none of them moved anywhere near as fast as the UFO did, much less without making a sound (with the exception of a few airplanes that flew at a high enough altitude to be out of earshot as a result). Nor in the entoire time I've lived here, do I ever recollect ANY aircraft coming from that direction, from over those treetops down south. There are no airports, no landing strips, no chopper pads south of me. Just the usual houses, malls, and the atlantic ocean.

1. Are you sure it wasn't a stealth? They make no noise, move very |
|
fast and are often far from any airstrips. At any rate, cool. :hi:

Actually, I was stone cold sober. The only high I had was from the caffeine in my coca cola.

7. I saw one, too, a couple of years ago. |

The one I saw looked like the classic "E.T."-type UFO's seen in the movies. It had spinning lights in the middle and was able to move quickly in every direction. Just like yours, no sound, whatsoever, and I was outside, so I should have been able to hear it.
I would have thought it was a helicopter (it was nighttime, so it was hard to see other than the lights) because of the spinning lights (even though apparently helicopters don't have lights on their blades) had it not come fairly close (within a half-mile, I'd say) without me being able to hear a damned thing. It was moving way too quick, anyway, for a helicopter.

8. I saw one, too, several years ago |

in daylight, about 4 PM. Fortunately, there were several people around who watched it with me. It appeared to be oval in shape and very shiny. It hung in the sky toward the northeast and two smaller "somethings" came out of it and moved away at incredible speed, making no sound at all. After maybe 5 minutes, they came back and merged with the larger object. Then it sped away silently, again extremely fast. I have no idea what it was, but I'm glad I didn't see it while alone.
Welcome to DU, by the way!:hi:

You'll always be asked "what were you smoking?" or "were you drunk?" It comes with the territory.
I saw one when I was very young and in broad daylight. It was a very classic flying saucer-design, but all black. It didn't make a sound and hovered over me for the better part of ten minutes, rotating and rotating. I was terrified but transfixed. Finally, it zoomed off across the horizon at a terrific speed.
I've never seen one since. You don't hear about too many flying saucer sightings anymore... whatever the UFOs are or whatever is driving them, they've upgraded to diamonds and triangles and orbs of light, so I'm glad I got to see a "classic model" before they went out of style.

11. I've seen several. The one I saw that comes closest to your description |
|
was almost more seed pod shaped. It was bright blue in the center and pale yellow on the edges. I was driving with a friend near dusk when I spotted it coming toward us from my left, far in the distance. We were near a commuter airport so I thought nothing of it at first. As it flew closer (lower than most aircraft) I interrupted my friend and said "Um, what's that"? My friend is a scientist and former military. We watched in silence as it continued to approach. It flew directly in front of us, over the road and my friend finally answered "well, that's a UFO". Then it zipped off once it passed over a spot of pasture. It also didn't make any noise, and flew in way that my friend describe as"non-ballistic"-like the air had no influence over it. Not a particularly spectacular sighting, but the craft was rather beautiful in an eerie way.

I think you should report this ASAP. Peter Gersten is the guy who you want to talk to. Chances are, you may not be the only one who saw this. By reporting it, you may learn there were others who saw the same as you. Good luck! http://www.caus.org/home.shtml

15. Oh, I've reported them all |
|
For a skeptic, I've had an embarrassing FOUR sightings. One witnessed by my entire neighborhood when I was four years old (1969) in broad daylight. Three f-15s chased a cigar like object around the sky (it just zipped and hovered-it seemed to be playing with them). No news coverage later, of course. I had nightmares about it all through my childhood because it scared the grownups so much.Saw a big black rectangular one hanging over an abandoned department store with my Air Force ex-fiance. it shot into the night sky when a group of teenagers approached it. I saw three blue oval shaped craft in a cloudless night sky 12 years ago. They formed a triangle, a line, another triangle-then they zipped around one another madly-formed another line then shot off (that was the worst one, because I saw it alone), and finally the last one which I related in the previous post. I don't know what they are and I hope that I don't encounter another one. That's plenty for one lifetime, thank you very much.
Oh, and I did call the local airport and the police after I saw the three ovals putting on their show. The airport cut me off and said "we know nothing about it" then hung up on me! I called the police to report dangerous aerial stunts being done over a populated area. They were very skeptical, naturally.
