Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 05:10 PM by SarahBelle

1. I have NO idea what you're talking about,
though I don't think that has to do with my gender, just my obliviousness (or would that be oblivity?).

4. No someone else was (more like linen in general).
Then asked for advice about it.

3. Yeah and the thread count can be bogus
Consumer Reports had an article on the true meaning of thread counts. Some mfrs will count the number of fibers in a thread to make it look as if a sheet has a high thread count...

For example, sheet has 120 threads actually but there are 2 fibers per thread....therefore looks like a 360 thread count...slick marketing...

A hollowed out log doesn't sound so bad after all...

7. Yes.
But I generally think of it in connection with the fabric of a suit, not that of sheets...

30. and the quicker they wear out, too
That's thread count per square inch. To pack 600 threads into an inch, they gotta be really THIN threads. And they wear out much more quickly. Not saying buy muslin, but 200 or 260 is about as high as you should go if you're going to be actually sleeping on them regularly.

For you wealthy prats who have six sets and change them every week or so, never mind.

11. I always look for thread count.
I don't like to buy really cheap sheets. I want something that will last a long time.
But I am a woman so that might make a difference.

13. I've e been divorced for 25 years now.........
and vowed I'd never marry again. I know more about homemaking than many women.
I will not sleep on ANYTHING under 350 thread count. A man has to make a stand somewhere! ;) Scratchy sheets are a bummer.

I know it's not 250 count or anything, but it is Martha Stewart.

23. Aha. I guess I saw your post before you edited it and
actually PUT the poll up where we could see it, as well as the subject of the poll.

So it's not me, after all. For once.

And yes, I know what "thread count" means.
