Ben Affleck creating TV show about "Second American Revolution"
Affleck meets 'Resistance'

Thesp eyes TV drama with Bailey

By JOSEF ADALIAN

HOLLYWOOD -- Ben Affleck is in talks to create and write "Resistance," a potential drama series about a second American Revolution that he'll exec produce with Live Planet partner Sean Bailey.

<snip>

"Resistance," to be produced by Touchstone and Live Planet, will be set in the not-so-distant future, imagining a United States that's been divided into separate countries following a pair of catastrophic terror attacks.

Ensemble skein will follow a band of modern patriots who are attempting to bring back the Bill of Rights and reunify the country. One person familiar with the pitch said the show ultimately will be a hopeful hour because of its pro-democracy bent.

'Event' projects

"Resistance" fits with the early development season trend toward so-called "event" projects. What's more, at least one other project with a similar theme may be in the works.

Spyglass Television and Benderspink are said to be preparing a pitch for a show dealing with life in the U.S. after a major national disaster. Idea is based on the Whitley Strieber novel "War Day."

Fox's "24," which has tackled everything from a nuclear explosion in the U.S. to a chemical attack, has proved audiences are willing to tune in to watch a show with terrifying undercurrents.

22. "censoring controversial material"
Here's one of the online articles/essays about it:

http://www.insomniacmania.com/news_default.php?id=2632

The upcoming adaptation of best selling book "The Da Vinci Code" is set to censor out anything that is too controversial and offends devout Catholics and Christians. Cinema Blend has the following quote from The New York Times:

" studio officials have consulted with Catholic and other Christian specialists on how they might alter the plot of the novel to avoid offending the devout."

17. Yeah, I know what you mean
I liked him a lot better when he was just being himself in Kevin Smith movies.

Like someone else said, if he just sits around writing the checks? Cool.

18. Seems interesting
lets see if any channel has the cahones to pick this up.

Today is Ben Affleck's birthday also. I'd wish him a happy birthday but we're not talking after he impregnated my girlfriend and married her.
