For Cindy
I really couldn't sleep tonight, and things just kept going through me head. So I decided to see if I could do something useful with my time. The picture below I made as a modification of the now-infamous tank cartoon - so whoever the original artist is, let me know as they deserve credit for it as well. I'm a terrible artist by myself. Below it is a piece I wrote tonight/today that provides the narration for the picture. I hope it's not too rough, I'm sure to have a proofreading error at this hour, lol.

A Lady stands alone
And faces down the night
She will not sit or sleep
While putting up her fight
Her will is overwhelming
Her courage, it compels
For not a single moment
Does she forget the ones who fell.

The ones who come to visit
To her their stories tell;
Sent to a place of fire
From heaven into hell.
They’ve heard the shots ‘a-ringing
They’ve had to drop and roll
But the hardest sound of all
Is the lonely church bell’s toll.

‘Why did they have to do this,
Leave their freedom and their lives?
Were they sent there for a truth,
Or was it all just lies?’
She wants to know the answer
And so she won’t back down;
She’s camping out in Crawford
Until she meets that clown.

From a ditch she called out ‘Why?’
He was in that ranch inside.
He heard the lady’s words,
And did his best to hide.
No longer could it last,
No longer could it go.
That night he had to face her
She simply had to know.

She asked him all her questions,
He stopped and said ‘Now, whoa –
You’ve asked a lot of things,
But who else wants to know?’
She looked behind her shoulder,
And to her great surprise,
Behind her there were millions
A light to fill the skies.

‘That light is with me, George.
It’s very strong and bright.
This time you must be honest,
Or we’ll bring it all to light.’
He didn’t know what to say
His face was filled with fright.
For a simple little lady
Brought down his world that night.

The lady stood alone
And called out to the light:
‘Thank you so for helping,
to stave away the night.’
And in that perfect moment,
The light to her replied:
‘No – Thank you, Cindy.
You’ve made it turn out right.’

2. Thank you!
I have to say it had much the same reaction writing it.
