Police Halt Funeral Procession, Arrest Man
http://www.click2houston.com/news/4850168/detail.html

HOUSTON -- Houston police stopped a funeral procession for a 28-year-old man to arrest his brother in the death.

Chris Dwayne Jackson, 23, taken into custody Friday, has been charged with murder. His brother, Michael Curtis Jackson of nearby Spring, was shot in the back Aug. 4 at a Houston apartment complex.

"He failed to cooperate in any way," said Sgt. Mark Newcomb, a homicide detective. "We had been advised that family members said this was a family issue and not a police issue and they were going to handle it internally."

Newcomb, who said that there had been a dispute between the brothers, said Chris Jackson confessed to the slaying when he was questioned Friday. Newcomb said Jackson failed to turn himself in for more than a week.

Newcomb said SWAT officers were needed for the arrest because he had received a tip that Jackson intended to put up a fight.

During the procession, officers surrounded Jackson's car, which was two cars behind the hearse. Newcomb said the other cars in the procession were a considerable distance behind.

"They were held back while we got him," Newcomb said. "When we were finished, we let the procession continue on."

1. Homicide is a family issue? I guess if the family is named "Gambino"
or "Genovese" maybe :).
