Question for techies please

OK you web publishers you, I need your advice please.

I Have been using Frontpage because I did not need any more than that and it is what I had available to me and have always used, now, I have to buy new web publishing software for our business, and am looking for advice from users. We are a small business, so cost is something to consider, but, I also need something savvy enough for experienced user, and basic enough for a tech phobe hubby to use.

Opinions please, and thanks in advance.

4. This will be OK with WYSIWYG for tech deficient hubby?

I know Dreamweaver was good if you already know HTML, but will it work for a guy who still calls me over to the computer when the antivirus updater pops up a window?

If so, then I will just sit tight on FP2000.

you should have the hubby take some basic computer courses anyway

I am just the household geek...I am helping my poor technophobe of a spouse to focus on making money, and not on the technical side of things which he really does not like.

He will get plenty of experience by fire with Quickbooks (snicker)and Powerswipe!

15. You really don't need to know HTML to use Dreamweaver...

...although it always helps to know as much as you can. But, seriously, Dreamweaver is easy to use for someone with no coding skills as well as an experienced HTML coder. And it's far superior to FrontPage for either type of user.

7. Do you have a lot of content that needs frequent updating?

If so, you may want to consider a web content management solution.

Otherwise, look into Macromedia's Dreamweaver. It's the de facto industry standard for page design these days.

Adobe is also good, but I'm been using Macromedia's stuff for eight years now, and they've done a pretty good job of staying current.

That is the second Dreamweaver recommendation...looks like that is where i may be going.

11. I've been using DW since 2.0 in 1998

after switching over from FrontPage. I've tried other offerings but I keep going back to DW for WYSIWYG-type stuff.

Most of my webdev work these days is done using server-side programming and scripting, so I use MM's HomeSite quite a bit. But for doing a quick-n-dirty page mockup (and for cleaning up invalid or poorly-formed HTML in a hurry) you can't beat Dreamweaver.

I appreciate you taking the time...sometimes trying to find an opinion on the internet (via Google, ZDNet, etc) is like finding a needle in a haystack. Plenty of hay out there, just no real opinions.
