Question for DU gardeners: just planted a tree...
It's a red maple, about 8' tall, here in central Florida. How often and how much should I water it?

1. Don't know what your precipitation
is like down there right now but if it's dry give it at least a gallon every other day till it heals itself in.

You'll be able to tell by the health of the foliage when that happens.

2. Drill some holes in the soil to get the tree food spikes in deep.
call U of F. They can probably give you the exact info on watering.

5. Make sure you did not plant it too deep
and mulch it. Water early in the day. Morning is best.

7. excellent.
did you stake it? you can mulch around it and cover the top of the root ball with about an inch of mulch. Pile up soil or mulch in a circle around the root ball to make a little lake around the stem, so it catches the water.

8. No stake - it seems pretty stable
It had a pretty tall root ball. Also did the moat, so water pools at the base.
