5. Do you have a nitro bottle, a regular bottle, a nitro can?
Is it Canadian brewed Guinness, imported Guinness, extra stout Guinness?

You're going to have to burn three growlers of corn-brewed Budweiser to appease the beer demons. In all seriousness, the nitro cans are way better than the nitro bottles (which I assume is what you have). I've gotten very thin and watery mouthfeel from the nitro bottles, which are ostensibly designed to be drunk from the bottle and not poured at all. Either way they taste not so great, and if you decide not to pour, it ruins a lot of that special Guinness cachet. But anyway our domestic versions are way dumbed down from what you get in the UK--my favorite readily available Guinness is the no-frills bottled Extra Stout. But all my beer snob friends are not fans of the nitro bottles--if you go nitro, try the cans and see if you like them better. They're at least meant to be poured.

17. Then my short answer is no
Same ol' beer-pouring rules apply: pour into a tilted glass and straighten as you go. If you don't like the size of the head you get, you can do a more agitated pour. But as far as I know there's no special trick to it.

12. I thought Guiness with the thingymabobber is supposed to be drunk...
from the bottle.

I'm pretty sure it says so on the bottle. I have one left in the fridge, but that's a good 5 meters from here and I'm too lazy to walk that far right now.

19. I went and checked...
it does say "drink straight from the bottle" on it.

Since I had to go to all that effort to check, I decided to reward myself by opening it. And in your honor I'm having some dark chocolate to go along with the beer.

30. You're supposed to drink right from the "thingymabobber" bottles
Love the terminology! :D

I like the cans better myself, and I pour those gently along the side of the glass until I get to the spot where I'd like the head to rise from.

I'm not sure what it is about the bottles...it seemed kind of watery when I tried it; but maybe it was because I drank it as they recommended instead of pouring it. Maybe that'd help...

Maybe you should have several, so you can compare various pouring techniques. Maybe you could even get a research grant! :D

34. yes, that's MUCH better!
i wasn't allowed to drink on the job, so sadly mine always turned out fairly straight :goofy:

sometimes, people would order a Guinness with a shot of blackcurrant cordial in it, so the head would come out purple. when you did a shamrock on one of those, the shamrock outline would turn out green.

that was a very cool thing to see! :hi:
