My nephew just joined the Marines
His freeper mom (my sister, to whom I do not speak because of her homo-hatred) enclosed a picture of his boot camp graduation in my birthday card. My nephews and nieces are smiling proudly.

So I guess some of the freeps actually do enlist. Question is, is my sister just that stupid or just that zealous in her RW hatred that she doesn't mind sacrificing her children?

Last time I saw him, he was 6 years old. This just makes me want to cry.

2. You mean the smiles?
Yes, I'm sure. I mean, they have to know he's going to Iraq, don't they? And probably for a very long time, if he comes back at all. They just can't be that naive. :(

13. Yeah, I'm afraid so.
I've never heard any parent say how proud they were that their child died in Viet Nam.

4. I'm so sorry...
I assume he'll be going to Iraq soon...?

Please accept my prayers for him. This is all very scary.

8. I can't imagine they'd pass up the chance for another warm body
But then I've always been confused about what Marines and those in the Navy do in landlocked conflict areas. Maybe they don't get sent there?

5. That is bad news, i wish him well and to be safe.
My nephew did 1 tour in Afghanistan and 2 in Iraq, thankfully he's home now after almost 3 years of war.

6. Engel, my nephew is going to Iraq next month.
I hope everything turns out OK for both of them.

(my sister and I are politically opposite too, hard to believe we share any DNA!)

7. So sorry for you.
I have heard people say that most of the people in the military in Iraq do not get killed, that they are playing the numbers with a good hand (mixing metaphors). Some people truly believe this, that so long as they don't get killed they are ok. I am sorry for you, perhaps you can keep contact with the nephew during his service to provide a balance if he ever needs one.

10. I haven't spoken to him or anyone else in his family
since he was six. I suppose I could send a card through my sister if indeed he gets sent over.

18. Both. She is stupid and zealous in her RW hatred....
...and most of that hatred goes towards those who are against the war. So she is willing to sacrifice her son, so that she can say, "I told you so". Thats the reason you got that bootcamp picture. I'm sure she knows how you feel, and she was throwing it in your face. To sad her son will have to pay the price for the lack of sound advice from his mother.
