It's not like you have to sacrifice principles for it, or anything, either. Girls get to college and... well, they stop being high school girls. You know how they are. I'm sure guys change, as well. But in any event, I'm very sure that when you get to college you'll have an easy time finding a young lady who likes you as much as you like her. Give it a semester. Don't be afraid to be friends with girls, and don't get over-fixated on anyone. Someone will bite eventually, whether you're looking for love or just lovin'.

And I use trojans, ultra-ribbed or unlubricated. With the unlubricated, you'll want to use your own, I suggest KY liquid.

And just so you know, it's a really fun conversation with mom when you come home for summer, are unpacking your bathroom supplies, and a huge bottle of KY liquid comes out just as she comes into the room. *shrug*

Since you are looking for a relationship, make yourself accessible and make conversation. It could be about a homework assignment or the ballgame. Talking homework is an easy way to get a phone number. There might be a young lady who has a crush on you and thought that you were involved or not interested in becoming involved with someone.
Have realistic expectations, you attract what you are is a good rule of thumb. If there are any self-improvements that you would like to make, but all means make them.
So, you are 16 right? Do you have a driver's license? That would help so that you can drive on dates. Believe me a guy with a car or at least a license is a big deal to a highschool girl.
Wanting to date a guy with a car is no more superficial then wanting to date the homecoming queen. Get a part-time or summer job that hires lots of teens. This would give you the opportunity of meeting other teens from other schools, without having to go through the trauma of CLICKS.

I guess I was just too damn shy when I was a kid to try anything in that direction. I have a monstrous fear of rejection and abandonment, some of which stems from my early childhood.

If any woman has ever been attracted to me... I lack the experience to know what's going on.

Geesh, I just realized that you're 16....my daughter's age. I'm happy that she's uninterested in boys (so she tells me)....but I don't think she's really ready yet and I certainly am not encouraging her to "explore" her sexuality with the opposite sex. There's too much baggage with the social side of life when kids have sex too early. Physically, no problem, but emotionally and socially, it can be a nightmare for some that are still maturing in mind/spirit.
