Question for all the DU men |
|
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 09:43 PM by liss681
So I went to the bar Friday night with my brother and his friend. After about two hours, his friend bit my arm! WTF?! So I said, "Don't start something you can't finish..." joking around. He bit me two more times! An hour later, he comes up to me while my brother is on the other side of the bar and says, "What did you mean earlier when you said that, because I've been thinking about it for the past hour." Then a couple hours after that, he dumped an entire cup of ice down the front of my shirt! So is this like a very immature form of flirting, or is this guy a little loony? I am very confused by the whole thing.... it almost feels like I'm back in second grade being chased around by some little boy who is trying to pull my hair!
Any opinions?
I just wanted to add that later when I was drunk and not feeling good, he brought me water (to drink, not to dump down my shirt) and took care of me. I don't want everyone to think he is a complete ass, I was just wondering if he was flirting...

I use the term "flirting" loosely. Sounds like he has some social skill difficulties. This is when the red lights should go off, "Warning, warning..."

I had teeth marks on my arm, so he punched me in the arm to make the bite marks less noticable. He has threatened to kick ass before when his friends have hit on me, but he didn't do it this time.

...Sorry, but biting isn't "flirting."
Ted Bundy liked to bite strangers. It's infliction of pain, and also an "alpha" response to show who's boss...in lower mammals, of course.

The biting can be playful flirtation, but I'd only try it AFTER joking around for a while. So they know I'm playful. The ice though ? Yeah he's an asshole.
Playful flirtation that both sexes (imo) somewhat miss from when we were younger can be good, but you have to feel out the situation first.
I don't know what this guy was getting at, but his behavior seems rather strange.

a seriously dysfunctional community that includes your family, your family's friends, and most of all yourself.
I'm also real close to calling bullshit on this one. You keep getting people more and more wound up, to the point where I suspect you're making the whole incident up.
Prove me wrong.

it was a little odd and wanted to get some opinions on it. Flirting with someone is one thing, but biting someone seems a little strange... even if you like someone, would you show them you like them by biting them?! And we are not talking about some cute little love bite, if you look at the picture.

probably just for sex though. He sounds pretty immature. He's not disturbed or anything, probably not really an asshole either. He just is picking on the little girl on the playground who he has a crush on. I do that a lot, mainly teasing, I think he was playing around and it got a little too far. But, if you got him back, you might've encouraged him. Depends on if you were angry, it didn't sound like you were. So he probably took all the immature antics as a screwball flirting ritual. If you aren't interested, next time, when the flirting starts let him know, also let him know if some of the more excessive messing around - getting iced poured on me might piss me off a little too much- is unacceptable to you.

and then bite him. Clearly, this is normal where he is from. I think we should be sensitive to people who are culturally different from ourselves. If he exlaims "Golly, why have you bitten me?" just tell him that he bit you first, and that you thought it was normal where he comes from.
Also, a rabies shot may be in order.

He's immature and it may be flirting, but if he's this physical when trying to pick you up, you're looking for trouble.

|
He probably thinks you're into him because you responded to his immature flirting by saying "don't start something you can't finish". Which could translate to "come on, if you dare" seeing as you're both attached.
So now he's thinking about you in a "Whoa, I could have me a piece of that?!" way, which either is freaking him out or turning him on.
But that ice thing....not cool.
