Sports hotshots intensely disliked by their own countrymen
Funny how that happens, usually with athletes/teams that exert an unreasonable dominance.

I know firsthand that many Germans totally despise Michael Schumacher and root for Montoya, Raikkonen, Alonso etc.

I know quite a few people in Brazil who want the national soccer team to lose. This did NOT happen while we spent 24 years with no World Cup wins.

And of course, there's the USA basketball team. I'm starting to get the impression that more Americans got happy than frustrated with their recent flop at the Olympics.

I have no Italian online acquaintances. I wonder if the same happens with Valentino Rossi.

4. jordon? Did you used to read the usenet pro basketball group?
There was some guy there who went by the handle Air Judden who endlessly posted diatribes against Michael Jordan, or "jordon" as he called him.

I just googled and his webpage is still up:

Much of his material may be a tad puerile, but his fanaticism about it can make it pretty entertaining.

5. D'oh... no, just an 'I'm tired' typo
But, I do believe Ahmad Rashad got divorced so he could marry Michael Jordan.

6. No sweat.
I think your comment about Mr. Rashad could be applied to anyone who worked for NBC Sports back in the day.

3. I was really glad that the USA basketball team flopped.
I liked it when there were rules for amateurs. You got to see some real talent and the games were a "bit" more even. :hi:
