I think why I hate mimes so much is that they are a lower art form, |
|
the art of miming is a tool to be used in acting.
Much like in learning an instrument, one spends a lot of time running scales, so also in acting, one spends time learning to mime.
Miming is a foundation, upon which the art of acting sits.
And just as I wouldn't pay to go to a concert and listen to a violinist play scales for two hours; or watch a painter generate rough sketches and color studies for two hours; or watch a photographer take pictures, but never actually see any of them; so I see no need for mimes to think that what they are doing is relevant or important.
Granted, if I had to choose between listening to scales or watching a mime, I'll choose mime.
But still, it's just not interesting, and, in fact, it annoys the living shit out of me.
Mimes - you have like a handful of fucking things that all of you do, because it's all you can do in mime, and it gets really fucking annoying - pull something, find something, change the position of something, move against/with something, show an emotion, use your body to outline a physical object.
That's pretty much it.

4. I really don't get it at all: |

I certainly understand panic-attack triggers, but a left-handed screw might suffice just as easily. Plus it's always a career option for me

5. At the risk of Pissing some DU'ers off..Your post reminds me.... |
|
...of when I went to see "River Dance"
The first 20 or so minutes were entertaining and interesting. After 35 minutes, I was starting to squirm in my seat. After an hour, I was thinking "Chist!..Are they going to do the same Fucking dance all night?"
After 2 hours, I was Praying that an Asteroid would hit the Earth and put me out of my Misery.....

6. You're a better man than I am for staying the whole 2 hours |

I couldn't have done it.
I love watching Riverdance when they show up on some show and do one dance. Maybe two.
But yeah, they're all the fucking same, and it gets really fucking boring after a while.
That's also why I never went to see STOMP. I was sure I'd love it at first - it's some fucking brilliant music making - but I was afraid that after about twenty minutes it would lose it's charm, and then I'd have to burn my ears out with a soldering iron.
