Did "Autofocus" win any Oscars?
Edited on Sun Nov-09-03 11:25 PM by khephra
I'm only a bit of the way into watching it, but I keep on asking myself, "Chicago won Best Picture and Autofocus didn't???"

It's the "Boogie Nights" of Bob Crane movies.

The set, costume design, and music is also knocking my socks off!

1. When did it come out (ie was it eligible last time or next time)?
I saw it, and it was quite an interesting movie. I always loved watching "Hogan's Heroes"--still do--and I had no idea about Bob Crane's bizarre lifestyle. BTW, your comments on the movie absolutely make sense to me.

2. I'm not sure about the release date
But I think it was during the same time as Chicago.

Thanks about the "comments" bit. It really does have a weird "Boogie Nights" vibe to it...and I'm not just talking subject matter. There's also a bit of a David Lynch feeling to it to, and that's not just because his g/f did the music either.

3. I dont think it won a thing.
I was probably to dark. I thought it was a great film. It does an excellent job of showing how a person can slip into bad habits in such a methodical way. I watch it 3 times before I took it back. Stupid late fees. My wife was getting worried. Great film!!!!

4. There were many glaring errors in the costume dept.
Check out the clothes, particularly the shoes, many of the women are wearing. We're talking stripper circe 1992 here. Such a shame, considering the obvious care taken by the Production Designer.

But it's a great movie none the less. We bought a copy, even!
