I automatically hit the mute button when it comes on.
Then, the say it you have "broadband" then you're ready for VoIP. What they mean is if you have a cable modem you're ready for VoIP, unless you're a small business running off a DSL T1 with VoIP.
Because if you have DSL, aka "broadband", yo already have telephone service.
Then, they try to act like their service i so much cheaper than a traditional landline. I onl use cell service for voice, but here in Bellsouth country you can get a basic landline for $25 per month and if you want to add LD there's plety of options (and yes I know with VoIP you can choose a number in a far-off area code - so your local friends have to dial LD to get to you). Also, a CO-based landline won't go down during power outages and there's no possible 911 screwups with CO-based landlines.
No offense to Vonage customers, but it really seems like a "dumb thing" like the say in their spots.
