I'm getting seriously spoiled visiting my dad in San Diego
Edited on Sun Nov-09-03 11:35 PM by Booberdawg
I am visiting beautiful Southern Cal from Iowa right now, and the men in my family have always been the cooks, and good ones to boot. My half sister and I, and her mother, my stepmother, can't cook worth a shit. Coffee is made when I get up in the morning and served with a homemade breakfast, and home cooked, well rounded suppers every night. I don't eat this well at home. :D He also does dishes twice a day.

Right now, dad's famous spaghetti sauce is on the stove - it simmers all night and all day with several types of meat in it and the aroma is making my mouth water already. I've made it several times myself over the years - it's TO DIE FOR. :9

Fridge is stocked with my favorite soda drink, Diet Pepsi. :D

Coffee pot is cocked and loaded and ready to go if I wake up first. :D

I'm in my mid 40's for heavens sakes - I could get used to this. :D

I have also been spoiled by the fine hospitality of more than a few DUers in the area. With a few more to see and more plans in the works, a grand party and time by all was had in Hollywood at the El Coyote on Friday night. Here's a thread at the bottom of this post about the festivities Friday night and a few pics, which I still hope to be added to as folks from the party get time to upload their pictures.

Incidentally, I noticed driving up to LA Friday that the exotic trees looked a little, well, sick, compared to the ones here in San Diego. Is that because of the fires? Or were they already like that from the drought conditions? What a shame - it is otherwise so pretty in this part of the country.

Oh, I thought we were going to have a close call here earlier tonight with my dad's wife deciding to pull up the DU Latest Page. It turned out okay, but I was walking by behind her and sweating nails that some subject wasn't up that would cause her consternation. I mean, they already think this is sort of some cult that has overtaken my brain or kidnapped me or something. So I'd be hard pressed to explain a thread popping up in the Lounge like "Is it okay to pee in the shower?" or some such silly thing that, you know, like the silly off-color stuff that can come up in the Lounge sometimes.

There was nothing like that on the Latest Page. Whew! She did find something about shall I watch Jessica Lynch or Elizabeth Smart and another thread about chocolate that she cruised through. I escaped a grilling anyway. Think I will start emptying the cache all the same....

:hi:

2. You went to El Coyote!
My God, what an institution!

I live about a mile from there. Killer margaritas.

How long was your wait? There is usually quite a crowd there.

7. I feel the same way when I visit my dad in San Antonio
He always puts on a cup of hazelnut or french roast coffee (my favorite), and has a gallon of milk in the fridge since I love to drink milk. He knows to stock the fridge with Coronas also.

My dad will also make my favorite dish which is pasta carbonara and he also has a bottle of Cotes Du Rhone in stock since it's my favorite wine. I love my dad so much!!! Can't wait to go home for Thanksgiving!

8. Glad you have a cool dad too slinker

Mine does stock German Beer for my sis when she visits and would stock something for me too but I don't usually drink. Frankly, I had enough to drink Friday night with the DUers to last me the next year. (burp!)

I have lost 25+ pounds since they last saw me so that's probably why we are having the pasta. Oh my gawd I jus' love the spaghetti sauce anyway. I could eat a bowl of the sauce alone for breakfast!
