2. About 80 or 90 minutes, |
|
but it seemed at times Jack wanted to play a lot longer. At one point, after having played for about 40 mins. Jack said to the audience, "Well I guess I should start the show now..."

4. The Greenhornes opened for them. |
|
They were better than I expected them to be! They had a hard rock/garage sound, not unlike the White Stripes--but not a total copy either.

I was just relieved it wasn't one of the new breed of garage bands that MTV has in heavy rotation--the ones with the incredibly whiny singing voices and very little to say.
They weren't bad (the Greenhornes).

8. Love the Greenhornes. Saw them open for Holly Golightly at the Mercury |
|
Lounge a few years ago. I wish their first album were still available.
Did they play "Goin' Down to the River?"

13. I'm not sure--as this was the first time I heard them play. |
|
They had a tight sound. I was impressed. Did I hear correctly that they are from Ohio?

I was a little disappointed, in the mdse., there weren't any |
|
Greenhorne cd's or music offered. Though maybe they had just sold out of thier items since they opened, and I arrived a bit into their set.
They did have some cool shirts though! :D I'll see if they offer any of their stuff on their site. I don't believe in downloading tracks. I have nothing against others that do--it's my own weird thing. If I like a group, I want to see them get their due--in revenues from purchased music.

Jack (White) seems very cognizant of giving the audience his all during a show.

11. Amazing! They sound as good (or better) than they do |
|
on their cd's and albums. I just get the biggest kick of seeing Meg (drummer)play--I love seeing women behind a drum kit. So cool!
One of the reasons I wanted to see them, was after watching several performances they gave on television (SNL, grammys, mtv awards, etc.). The sound the get with merely two people just blew me away. They gave one of the best Grammy performances I ever saw...no lip synching or background track for them!

15. There were some people wearing NIN shirts at the show! |
|
I'm a fan of Trent's latest, but not as familiar with his earlier work. I'm so glad he decided to clean himself up--I was afraid he was going to become another music industry casualty.
The Whitestripes have a different sound. You can hear the influences of the blues, folk and even some south american music in a couple of newer songs. When he gets going on guitar--whoa. I don't know how else to say it--just whoa. Amazing!

17. yeah, completely differenty sound |

but don't rule out NIN earlier work it is really good, even if he was all messed up, the music was great, it is great that he cleaned up though, so sad to lose such musical talent so early, like in some cases

18. I've been hoping a video station would play Closer... |
|
(uncut). I know fuse plays it, as I caught the end of it once late at night. I read something about the song in an article about Trent, and I was intrigued.
In listening to some of the earlier work (like the one Closer is on), I was impressed. Also a bit sad that I somehow just missed them on my musical radar. He's quite gifted!

Barnes and Nobles. It's always fun to explore new music--get out of your little box, so to speak.
Thanks, Sniffa!

20. Very NICE venue--the neighborhood is beautiful!! |
|
We took notice of that driving up through the area.
Because it is so close to an actual neighborhood, I think I heard there is a sanction where they can only play until a certain time (10:00-ish).
It was nice to be outside, under the stars on such a clear and pretty night!
