Small world stories - post here |
|
I overheard our receptionist talking about taking her vacation -- she and her husband are going to South Dakota. When? The same weekend S.O. and I will be there. In fact, we're both booked into the same hotel in Deadwood the same weekend.
I rarely talk to her -- and we've never discussed our vacation ideas.

My fiance knows so many people that we run into one of them nearly every time we leave our house.

3. I know an elderly lady who had grown up in England. |
|
She moved to Canada in her 20s and finally went back to visit England in her 80s. She decided to ride the bus through her old neighborhood. She asked the bus driver if certain people lived there and he pointed to a woman that was a regular and told her to talk to her. She explained she used to live there as a child and inquired about different people and asked her about dear childhood friend and it was that lady. She talked about it in that very staid British way - like it was nothing to be sitting next to her friend whom she was looking for.

4. When I was living in Tokyo.... |
|
I met a guy who lived in Lakeway, TX (a suburb outside of Austin where I lived before moving to Japan) but then he moved to Webster Groves, MO which is a small suburb south of St. Louis where my in-laws currently live.
Very weird.

5. My BF and my ex-husband met for the first time when we |
|
all were entering a mall.
I got the door for my BF (he was wrangling his young daughter, who had fallen asleep in the car and was not pleased), and then a familiar voice, not his, said, "Thanks, Stacie."
I looked over, stunned, and saw Hedges, Dolo and her kids, about to enter the same mall, same door, same time. (In case you were wondering -- the men did the overly-firm handshake/"dude, what are the odds?" posturing, Dolo and her elder daughter laughed their heads off, I freaked out, and the younger children were unimpressed.)
This is the busiest mall in a metro area of a million and a half people.

I was a little flummoxed at the time.
Oh, and for the record -- the kid likes the mall. She likes the escalators.
