16. Grew to hate it that, too...
We actually sang it in my elementary school music class, as I recall... that and "Streets of Laredo" and "He's got the whole world in his hands."

20. C'mon you guys-- I'm not saying YOU have to like the song...
I just thought you could give me some assistance.

Besides, it's the WORDS that are meaningful:

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end...

If that doesn't fit those crazy religious zealots, I don't
know what does!!

Thanks

4. is this it?
Lyrics for: One Tin Soldier (The Legend of Billy Jack)

Listen, children, to a story
That was written long ago
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley folk below
On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath a stone
And the valley people swore
They'd have it for their very own

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after who...
One tin soldier rides away

So, the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill
Asking for the buried treasure,
Tons of gold for which they'd kill
Came an answer from the kingdom,
"With our brothers, we will share
All the secrets of our mountain,
All the riches buried there"

Now, the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses, draw your sword!"
And they killed the mountain people
So, they won their just reward
Now, they stood beside the treasure
On the mountain dark and red
Turn the stone and looks beneath it...
"Peace on Earth" was all it said

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after who...
One tin soldier rides away

Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead and cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after who...
One tin soldier rides away

...for killing the earworm you have implanted in my head.

BTW, don't you usually post the chord changes in your lyrics?

6. Here's A Link
http://www.thecolefamily.com/onetinsoldier.htm

Doesn't have a download but does have lyrics and the melody is playing on the site.

I am one who likes the song. I always sing it when I get sad about the direction the country and the world is going in. I've been singing it alot since Dumbya took over.

9. If you can't find it on a "legit/legal" site, ie. iTunes...
...(as it may be out of print), try MovieMusic.com for the soundtrack for "Billy Jack". Keep in mind the tune is NOT from the first "Billy Jack" (late 60's); rather, it's from the second film from the early 70's. (I think...)

18. "Go ahead and hate your neighbor" and "Do it in the name of Heaven,
you can justify it in the end" really describes the RWers in my view. I've been singing it aloud for years now!
