9. Their music is probably over my head
I find it too synthesized for one thing, though I know people, including musicians, who LOVE them and what they've accomplished. I like "Dirty Work" because I find it to be emotionally charged; I think their other songs are just technical accomplishments.

However, I did put that in there because I knew it would spur debate among Steely Dan lovers.

Did you put in a pick?

2. Adapting for the shift in genre
Schubert's setting of the Ave, Maria.

Not only do I usually dislike Schubert - I majorly dislike Tenors - this has both and I love it.

11. Right Now by Van Halen
I've always been pretty neutral about Van Halen, they don't bug me some much I have to change the station yet I'd never buy their albums. Except for "Right Now." I. Love. That. Song.

Also, obscure but... "Against the Grain" by Garth Brooks.

14. "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith
By and large, Aerosmith blows chunks - too white/suburban and "klassic rawk, man" for my tastes - but this one I won't turn off if it comes on the radio. The loping bass line at the beginning, and the rhythmic changes make it somewhat interesting. One gem in an enormous pile of dung.

Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 03:20 PM by jpgray
I used to think every song of his was a shitty mess (see "Mind Gardens" on the same album), but that one I like pretty well. :D

21. "Hideway" - Hilary Duff
Though it would be a lot prettier out of her hands. Also, I like "Pieces Of Me" by Ashlee Simpson. I'm not crazy about Ashlee, though I like her more than her sister and Hilary Duff.
