What's a good way to end an upset stomach? |
|
I've been doing weak tea and Immodium all day, with little or no improvement. Usually Immodium puts a stop to things, but not this time!

I've just been afraid to eat. Just checked, and I do have rice, maybe I'll try my usual miracle cure if the crackers I just ate stick around.

Milk and yogurt will coat the stomach, and contains bacteria that an upset stomach might be low on.

18. generally, vomiting and diarhea are the body's way to get rid |
|
of something bad - unless you have been sick for more than a day or two, don't take things like immodium - they can actually make you sicker. If you have been sick - vomiting and diarhia for more than 24 - 48 hours you probably should see a doctor.

Eight trips to the bathroom in two hours was enough. I have no insurance and I'm not working. I can't afford a doctor for this.

39. a couple of hours is nothing to worry about |
|
(unless you are at work or traveling) Let your body do what it is trying to do for a few more hours before trying to stop it. If you are feeling (or even if you aren't) dehydrated, sipping a sports drink or just water witha little bit of salt and sugar (1 liter to 1/2 teaspoon of salt and up to 8 teaspoons sugar, molasses or raw sugar) or a salty cracker - all in very small amounts, but continuously should help.
Do you have a fever or are you passing blood?

20. Either copious amounts of peppermint tea |
|
or flat ginger ale. Ginger is an antispasmotic. It warrants flattenning, as the carbonation is not a good thing in these circumstances. You flatten it with a fork, used like a spoon and stir it in a glass. Then imbibe.

22. 7-up or sprite-at room temp. Take small sips. |
|
Sometimes bananas, white rice or dry toast. If your stomach is so upset that you can't even hold down water --I would just start with the 7up, sprite or ginger ale.
Also try broth (chicken, beef or turkey)...
You need fluids first and foremost so you don't dehydrate and get sicker.

I've found that almost nothing I put in my stomach when it is upset does anything but make things worse.

|
If you have fresh ginger lying around the house, cut it up and chew on a piece. It is a natural remedy for stomachaches. Good for travel sickness too.
