The 1960s were about love and harmony.

When I grew up, it was "metal up your ass" (complete with lovely artwork of a dagger-wielding fist coming up out of a toilet bowl), kids naming their school kiddie bands "Laceration", and other disturbing/disgusting things.between

WTF happened during the interim two-decade period?!

1. The "Christian Coalition" happened...
and THAT put a stop to the Love and Harmony.

5. we're agreed on that!
I just think the root cause are the republicans. They are just USING things like the christian coalition to manipulate the compliant RW fundamentalists. If the fundies ever got too much to handle or actually cost them votes, the repubs would drop them like a hot potato.

Republican politicians wear religion like a cheap suit: it doesn't fit and it annoys everyone around them.

:)

I personally think that there is a more insidious thread in the hatred:
I think there is a string of bigotry and racism that runs through the republican party. Not a thin string, I think it is the raison d'etre. I think the KKK and the republican party are comfortable cousins. I think the "christian" jackets are just for show. underneath are white sheets.

IMHO
